Hi there, Lewesians. I am new here and have found in my house that I need a whole lot of electrical work done. Can anyone recommend an electrician who honours a quote and is entirely trustworthy? I have seen a van for a Female Electrician but can't find any references on Checkatrade or any other similar website. Can anyone recommend her services?

So, why would a female electrician be more trustworthy? You'd be wiser to obtain quotes from 3 or 4 electricians, and then decide. Try asking your neighbours or friends if they can recommend one. That's usually a good place to start.

I'm also looking for an electrician. Does anyone know of a good pensioner electrician. I saw a few good pensioners at the bus stop and thought that they may make ideal electricians. You know reliable and friendly etc. Please let me know.

What would be real nice is if they had comedian electricians, you know ones that do electrical work and tell you jokes at the same time. Now that's a gap in the market right there man!

@Judith, I think you'll find that particular area of expertise has been cornered by the Professor. Both an extremely qualified electrician and absolutely bloody hilarious! Intentionally or otherwise. Gotta love the Prof!

NewToLewes - I'm afraid that's how this forum is. The most innocent, ordinary post gets subjected to tedious attempts at humour, ridicule, parody and general abuse. Most residents are perfectly nice and helpful: the forum tends to attract pond-life I'm afraid.

I wouldn't say that it's limited to this Forum. NewtoLewes is going to experience a lack of pragmatism on all sorts of levels - undreamt of levels. She (presumably) is going to soon discover what it's like to have to walk past 470 shops selling Victorian teapots and brass-handled walking sticks on her way out to buy a pint of milk.

Mark, if the forum was moderated, it would be a much nicer place rather than a playground for a vocal few to spew their political crap and overbearing opinions on every post.

Well Townie, because it's unmoderated this forum is what people make it. The threads that are rammed with "political crap" are almost always the longest and are always the ones that are most full of up and down thumbs.

You're right, all of you. I won't be visiting this forum again. It's a waste of time. I asked if anyone was able to recommend a particular electrician and no one has responded in a helpful way. Have you nothing better to do with your time than post abusive unhelpful nonsense? If you have nothing useful to say, save your breath.

The 'female electrician' is called Jay, her tradename being JLR electrical. She is fabulous, keeps to her quotes, she is very knowledgeable, specified some really good and efficient radiators for my workshop. She is tidy and helpful, and did a great job for me. Why doesn't anyone on here want to support local businesses, whether male or female, but prefer to show off with their supposed 'wit' / venom. This forum is toxic!

JustAnwer if you'd visited the forum more often. your useful answer would of been at the top of the list. Belladonna is right.
