Having been down for my regular blood test today I asked the receptionist about the tree. She said it came down in the nasty weather we had over the bank holiday. Incidentally, it's a Holm or Evergreen Oak. (Quercus Ilex). They said it just split at a weak point at the base and more remedial work may have to be done to balance it up and make it more stable. Hope this helps.
