I'm fortunate to still retain a good level of health. I walk, briskly, up School Hill, turning left down St Nics Lane, right along Lansdowne Road and then right up Station St, left in the High St, left down St Martins Lane, right along Southover Road, right up Keere St, right through the High St to the War Memorial, left in to North St, right down little East St to the bus station, where if I have time, I start again for a second tour. All totally free, no gym or leisure centre fees, and at 60, I'm not carrying an ounce of unnecessary fat on me. Try it, walk briskly to raise your heart rate, you won't need classes.

Walking ( thanks for that route) is great - but regular classes to music with others is motivating and fun. I do Pilates, circuits and Zumba

Katy, I can understand what you're saying, having others around you can motivate you, and some people like a group environment. I personally prefer to be on my own when out walking, and at the same time I find it helps my thought processes. My walking habit started from quitting the smoking habit nearly 4 years ago. I found the easiest way was to get away from people and temptation from fellow smokers, so I ventured off over the hills, leaving all the cigarettes behind. It worked for me, and I've carried on walking alone ever since and I find it suits me.

Try Bridgette Lee. I have done her pilates and they were the best I've ever done. Can't afford another course at the moment but miss it!
