I feel that regardless of the outcome of the EU referendum, it is just a tool to gauge the feeling of the U.K. population and find somewhere to lay blame when it all goes pear shaped. Nothing more and nothing less.
To announce a referendum on an issue such as EU membership and then creating a situation that has divided the country founded on speculation, is an unbelievable act of mismanagement.
The government was elected to do their best for the UK not to abdicate their responsibilities when the going got tough. Whichever situation is best for the UK is the one that they should pursue on behalf of the electorate.
Stay in and renegotiate the terms to include what the Brexit camp could be the solution......oh, that would mean we are back in the Common Market! A trading union which was the original set up.
The excuse for holding the referendum was 'it was in our manifesto.' How many times. do promises in any party's manifesto ever see the light of day again?
The result in itself will not make or break this country, because how we use the result is the key to the quality of our future. It is just the start point for a lack lustre 'democracy' to perhaps re-invent itself and eventually elect a government that will work for the good of the U.K. and it's population.
At least it's got a lot of the population thinking of what might be going on and how they would like life to progress which must be a plus!
Maybe we should forget political colours and go for competence and elect/employ those who have the best skills for the job, as successful Company's do.
A tall order I know but apathy has set in over the last few decades and allowed those with their own agenda to progress their ideals at our expense and quality of life.
We need to develop a 'can do' attitude again and get back to relying on the many skills and expertise that exist within our country.
It's a tall order I know, but one that is possible and can be successful when greater effort is applied together with the right attitude to overcome the setbacks.
It is the positive effort that we should all make, not the infighting, that will contribute to the success or otherwise, of the situation that we will eventually find ourselves in.
Do nothing and nothing happens........

But Local, it would be unfair to exclude morons from participating in Lewes Forum. After all, we do have quite a few in our town.
