The forum is going downhill so quickly it will disappear entirely if the logging on rigmarole isn't abandoned haste post haste. The idea was commendable but it just hasn't worked out. I miss the scurrilous stuff, better the anonymous political incorrectness than the beige sleeves of boredom. Let's face it, it's just a local gossip column not some hush hush government department so what's with the secret passwords routine?

How come this is in political purple? It's ridiculous, what's political about it? Blimey, that fig leaves advert is rather distracting, does everyone get it or is the internet reading my mind?

I don't miss Jan at all, or the stupid posts about dogging and the political copy and paste posts. This forum seems to be gradually picking up again, as people get used to logging in.

Yep pedro and the racists have killed a good forum. Webbo should have dealt with the casual racism a long time ago and reigned in pedro crashing threads all the time. Stonemam etc got away with to much

I think it's an improvement. The puerile Pedro-baiting was tiresome. At least that's been reduced.

Wizardsleeves post above is proof that registering has not got rid of all the idiots from this forum. Registering does however appear to have stopped a number of people posting on here who have valuable contributions to make. Many of these are now presumably posting on the Lewes present Facebook site which has had some interesting debate recently. On there you have to register using your Facebook account so either have to be thick skinned as you post in your own name or have an alias. As I am quite sensitive and don't know how to set up a second Facebook account, I hope this site gets back into gear.

It's certainly much slower and less interesting....but lots of people prefer safety above anything else.

Nevilleman, it was some very openly racist comments that bought about the login scenario. It happened on a Sunday morning I think. Webbo ignored the posts for too long as he had done before and was then forced to act. DYOR. Idiot.

Too much is being made of racism and it doesn't do the matter any good. The majority of racists are unpleasant to everyone regardless of their ethnicity. It's the unpleasant face of attention seeking behaviour that is best cured by quiet but firm disapproval of the child and a curtailment of privileges. Hysterical reactions are not recommended as they just feed the hysteria of the perpetrator, gratifying his infantile needs.
