I think solar's a great idea and I hope they get permission though I expect the Nimbi's will be sharpening their pencils.

As a country we're not energy self sufficient, and with no clear energy policy that situation will likely worsen. Energy efficiency being a given, the more divergence in ways of generation the better. In the end I'm sure the government will bow to the Big 6's wishes and take the route which will realise the greatest profit for them.

Won't it be nice if the owner of that land, who will presumably make the profit from the solar farm, emphasises their green principles by using the track that runs from the road by the current sub-station to Stoneham to create a public cycle path. Thus linking the 'half cycle path' from Ringmer to Lewes. The track in question runs neatly across the front of the proposed solar farm.

Well, maybe that ought to made a condition of planning permission, like Tesco's creating road junctions etc. Quite feasible.

Why don't they surround the Glynde 'wind farm' with them and keep all the eco energy in one place...?

@belladonna - It could be that the wind turbine feeds Glyndebourne so they put it near it and it makes sense to put the solar farm right next to the local electricity sub-station. I think.

there could well be an issue with the CAA, as of an installer of solar heating back in the 70's an issue was raised with a system in pevensey reflecting and complains came in from commercial pilots. the proposed ringmer istallation may not affect commercial flights as they are southwards, but private aircraft and gliders could be seriously affected.

Many other countries have large scale solar farms, presumably they also have aircraft.
They seem to coexist.
