As the Progresssive thread has reached its limit, here is a continuation.
Onve upon a time there was a thing called a one nation Tory. There may still be a few about, but they are beyond being an endangered species. Perhaps Michael Heseltine is one, but he is about the last.
This conservative party does not rule on behalf of everyone, but on behalf of the elite, despite Mrs May's words when she succeeded to the Prime Ministership. However, they are still very good at fooling people. The rise in personal tax allowance noted in the budget is being promoted as a rise for the lowest earners. It is not. It benefits only roughy the top half of earners in this country - the others do not earn enough to benefit from it. And the more people are being paid, the more they benefit from tax cuts.
And that is being paid for by vindictive cuts to benefits for people who desperately need them - disabled people who are losing their means of getting out of the house, and low earning families who depend on tax credits just to be able to pay for food and rent.
If you really want to benefit the whole country, you will vote anything other than conservative.

Hehe. It amuses me how wound up people get over absolutely the most trivial things. In this case, being utterly unable to avoid clicking on a forum topic they have no interest in and venting their frustration about it existing in the first place. Lighten up man, its the weekend.

I'm not surprised people who can't spell 'potato' aren't interested in politics.

Yep, bad spelling, fair enough. Very pedantic aren't you. I am interested in politics but these rants just aren't it.

Love this forum. Makes me smile! So much passion for it from some of its regulars, who have grown ever increasingly possessive of it. They feel their usual cheerful discussions about parking tickets, what the biggest dive bar in town is or who the bloke who fancies pigeons is, isn't getting enough air-time, as its drowned out by political chit-chat (that they can't help but involve themselves in).

First world problems eh? What a thing to get upset about on a weekend!

@busty bar maid - create some new threads and discussions that aren't political (or are political and aren't "rants"). I've seen lots of pub discussion threads over the past couple of weeks, i'm sure you are an authority on this topic, so get involved! Don't hang around the "rants" threads because it will only cause you distress.

"Vote for whoever you like. That's the point." - the point is to come to informed decision and then vote and debate is part of that.
Please do spare us the personal attacks as well.

Why don't you start a thread about something that interests you then, Political Bore?
Surely that would be more constructive than just telling those of us who are interested in politics how dull we are?
