I must commend the organizers of the District Sports yesterday and all the children who took part. In particular,( and without meaning to any sleight to the other schools), the representatives of Wallands were an absolute credit to the staff.
They were neatly turned out, well behaved, enthusiastic and exuded team spirit. There were, many magnificent performances from all, but Wallands won nearly every single relay and the overall competition in tremendous style.
It was especially impressive to see how the older children interacted with the younger ones in a friendly and supportive way and it was clear that school has created an enviably positive atmosphere.
Well done to all we are lucky to have such a great school in Lewes

Why would you not push your child? do you want you child to be happy with mediocrity? Are you happy being an Average parent?
PUSH! Kids LOVE to WIN. Your job is to PUSH in areas they can do well. (and do NOT push where they cannot.)
Everyone is good at something. Some are good at sports, some music, some maths or languages.
Some, though rare; are good at caring for others.
ALL of these traits are useful. Push your kids and they will be happier for it. Oh, but find out what THEY want, not what you want!

I knew someone who was supreme at everything. 11 GCSEs, 5 A Levels, school captain, accomplished musician and hockey player. They got a place at Oxford. They killed themselves age 19 because they could not cope with the expectations that everyone had for them.

I`m not especially pushy actually. It was more the kindness and support for each other amongst the children, that I liked to see and I meant to compliment the staff for encouraging these qualities.
I think we can be allowed to enjoy it when our own children do rather well but I don`t take it overly seriously.

Wallands is a great school. You'll always get the naysayers but I know teachers who chose Wallands for their children and that says something.
