To all you neuron deficient soap watchers out there read this....
The 2000s is the decade that started on January 1, 2000 and ends on December 31, 2009. It is the current decade, and the decade in which the 21st century and 3rd millennium began.

They could only possibly have begun when 200 decades / 20 centuries / 2000 years were up. That would be the END of 2000. (In the same way that you are not 10 years old till you have lived for a FULL 10 years). See my explanation below or just have a go at counting on your fingers, its hardly rocket science !.

Paganess, for you to be right, there had to be a Jan 1st 0000 which would have been the first day of the first decade. As a little test, try and set your calender on any of your devices to that date. The penny might then drop love.
I remember this in a quiz once. Caught quite a few out!

Well, take a humble pie and cut it into four slices. Give one to Paganess, one to Wizard, and a third to OMG. Has it now all gone? No of course it hasn't, there is a slice left for Nah!
