The adverts at the side of my yahoo email page has got a string of very smug looking g*ts like Colin from Grimsby that has had £15,700 debt written off with an IVA, along with Steve from Blackpool with his £16,600, but the biggest grin from Sarah from London leaving the rest of us to pick up her £36,100 bill. Yes the credit card companies and banks shouldn't have lent them the money if they couldn't pay it back but equally they shouldn't have borrowed it. Thieving b*stards I call them.

It can be done without any "professional" help. I'm not sure about the thoughts that somebody else, us?, is picking up the tab. That's not the case. In any event folk should always steer clear of anyone claiming to "help" I've seen lots of folk turn unsecured debt into secured debt by using these damn debt management firms.

For those IVA's becomes a way of not paying back what the legitimately owe. What they do, in many cases, is make the IVF payments for a couple of years or so and then get the rest written off, which the creditor has little option to accept as they realise they will never get their money back and may as well not throw good money after bad chasing the debtor. Only genuine people should be allowed access to an IVA.

Mack, the banks and credit card companies recoup their losses from bad debt from those that pay back their loans with interest. Same way as the insurance companies charge us all an extra £30 on average to cover those scroats that don't bother insuring their car.
