Is there a cheap car rental place in or near Lewes?

I always use Avis at Brighton Marina, they are the cheapest I can find and easy to get to on the bus. If you are wanting to regularly rent a car there is an excellent car club in Lewes called Co-wheels.

Dave, I had the same problem - because i've chosen not to own a car permanently - but found the perfect answer (IMHO) Ring Enterprise at Uckfield and they will pick you up. They take you to their premises where you do all the paperwork. When you drop it off again, they will take you back to your home. They are lovely people with great cars and a very cheap long weekend deal. They are also on the web and have a depot in Hove/Brighton area if that's more convenient. I hope this helps.

I've just had a look at Avis and the car club
I need a car on Saturday
Avis £37
Car Club £90!!! + £40 household joining fee

Comparing those prices I don't understand the appeal of the car club?

I don't know where you get your figures from Dave. The cost to rent a car from the car club is roughly £30 per day plus 21p a mile. You don't have to pay for memebership if you agree to pay by direct debit. Saying that if you need a car on Saturday the car club will be no good because you have to wait for your membership to be processed.

The link below describes not only the Council's Common Wheels car club but also a privately-run one which is very good value unless you're doing massive mileage.

I just booked a car for 3 days online from Enterprise in Uckfield for £70 (when I phoned them up direct they gave me a price of £112).
Thanks for the tip Tim

You're very welcome Dave. I'm happy they looked after you at the right price. They've never failed me. (I don't work for them by the way)
