I attended all 3 planning meetings at Midhurst - Planning permission was granted with very sketchy information on skip lorry routes - School Hill is already very congested and Market Street is so narrow and dangerous at the best of times. How can the Highways Department possibly have approved this!? Surely this is an accident waiting to happen - not to mention the utter chaos and congestion that will come with it. This is a major development in the centre of a very fragile old town - Good luck to all those who live and work nearby. Ms_kitka is correct it is very depressing.

The above post relates to the demolition of the Old Magistrates Court and development of a Premier Inn. It continues an earlier thread re the use of the Courthouse car park that is now going to be a site office for the developer - despite being told by the SDNPA that this car park is not part of the purchase by the developer!

Worried, is that a general purpose post you use for all occasions? It is meaningless in the context of Mystified Meg's concerns. Do you also say 'It will be alright on the night', 'There's now as queer as folk' and 'It wouldfn't do if we were all the same'?

Might be alright on the night - there are some folk that are queer - it might be good if we were all the same.

The Quora application says 3 medium sized lorries a day will be taking away waste. Not a big deal, when there's a bus following the same route up School Hill and down Market St every - what - 15 minutes?. Whether Quora's statement will turn out to be true remains to be seen, but that's what they said.
As for the court car-park, I believe Quora is renting it from the Dept of Justice for the duration of the construction. Seems very sensible to me. Better than setting up in the public car-park. Maybe the DoJ will find they can live without it and may offer it for sale ultimately.
Life goes on.

I thought the courts were bomb proof ! Expect load bangs, no change there then ! Locals could help and carry away bricks to their gardens too !

Doris, I believe they intend to use hydraulic crushers to break the building up.
