Well, they're still running around the Nevill this morning, although they're using the yellow and green buses instead of the usual blue ones...what the heck is going on - I expect a full statement from our councillors within minutes, well, before the end of the day at least !!

Had one on Nevill earlier too. My lads school is Chailey and we were warned of delays and to find alternative way in today.

This was mentioned on BBC SE News last night: I got the impression that ESCC was ensuring that some kind of service remained for at least a day or two while they tried to sort something else out.

Priory school have sent out the press release from escc. It says they will try to keep school services going. Nothing about anything else.

I once walked round Paris for the day - taking in the sights, stopping at the odd cafe - I thoroughly enjoyed it too. Although I was late home for tea! My mum was not happy about that, let me tell you.

Another unintended consequence of deregulation and privatisation imo.
When companies have to bid as low as possible to get contracts, it's inevitable that some of them will go too low, find they're providing services at a loss and either go broke or break their contracts.

From speaking to a Countryliner driver this morning he mentioned that CL buses were now part of Heritage Bus Company.

E.S.C.C. are asking for higher and higher spec buse's on tendered services
and tender prices are getting lower and lower , accept the lowest tender prices and this is the result!! Pay peanuts and you get Monkeys

Well done to ESCC for ensuring that bus services that many people rely on have been covered by another provider - I believe Compass Travel (Sussex). But it does beg the question whether the ESCC Bus Company selection process was purely down to cost when reviewing the tender returns for local bus services? More questions need to be asked about whether the tender will be re-let and how long will Compass be running in the interim? And more importantly whether local bus fares will increase given that the last company may not have been able to sustain the business case they put forward to run the services?

The Renown Bus Company who ran local tendered services handed them all back to E.S.C.C, as they found they where running them at a loss a few months ago . And when they went to tender Compass won them
Is it not perhaps time that E.S.C.C had a good look at there tendering process
