I was pleased to hear on the grape vine that Lewes is to gain a Cote restaurant. It's about time we had reasonably priced good food restaurants it will be another welcome addition as is Aqua. I don't give a flying giraffe about how they treat their staff etc etc so pipe down you righteous gits before you get going!

Oh great. This will keep the forum going for another few months. Still, anything's better than Paul Newman's rants. He's resigned from this forum more times than Farage has quit UKIP and still keeps coming back to torment us.

Great news, this should help Lewes to be put on the map. Thank god it wasn't another pound shop to be put there instead.

Do we have an existing pound shop then?

I'd love a £shop. Lovely cheap lippy and rubber gloves

Let's hope Cote can actually manage HOT food, as opposed to the tepid stuff served in Brighton.

Bowing mouse - is a pound shop too "working class" for you then?
I should imagine there would be a fair bit of support for one, but then again we have people like you who think it would lower the tone. Yep, lets have yet another foodie place as if we haven't enough of them already......

Cote food is way better than Aqua, and prices similar.

what about the young people of lewes ,like macdonalds or kfc .and more cheaper shops that normal people can afford ,not just the rich from london.

Only eaten at Cote once and really enjoyed it TBH. Didn't know it was a chain at the time & didn't know staff treated badly (I've been away). Not into supportIng any business who don't treat staff well, but on quality of food alone I'd certainly return.

Just checked out their menu and at £12 for fish pie (veg extra!), it strikes me as a bit on the dear side, especially for a chain restaurant. I'll stick to the Elly and 2 mains for £12, I think.
Any idea where in town it might be?

Just like Poundland says there's too many capitalist outlets, we need more outlets for the masses, more charity shops and more pound shops won't go a miss, otherwise the town will outprice itself and become unaffordable to live in.

Why should young people have to eat rubbish like MuckDonalds or KFC? We need a Wetherspoons, where we can eat proper food at affordable prices.

@ACT. How pompous you are!!! Some of the best Michelin star chefs look as if they've spent weeks on the streets. You really epitomise the breed of person suffocating this working class town!

Cote is probably the best thing for Lewes, the town has been going through a bit of a bad spell recently with the quality of businesses coming into the area.

Just to add... they do treat staff badly - there was a huge expose about this in 2015. Tip your waiter cash not card and ask to take the service charge off! Some of the staff get paid a mere £7.05 which doesn’t even meet the Lewes living wage and they don’t finish until 2am in the morning.
