'Nowt to do with Lewes but with the public's help Which? successfully challenged the Office of Fair Trading to take action on unfair surcharges. OFT agreed that surcharges are unfair.
Europe voted to keep the proposed ban on excessive surcharging in the Consumer Rights Directive. This means companies who issue surcharges that are not reflective of the true cost of processing a transaction could face legal action. But this is in 2 years time and Which? thinks it doesn't go far enough
Which? want to go further on this issue and need your help to convince financial secretary Mark Hoban MP on the merits of changing the Payment Services Regulations to call for an outright ban on debit card surcharges.
If you find card surcharges a constant irritation (not to mention misleading) when you book flights, event tickets, accommodation and more and more other products online then simply provide your email to Which? at ***.which.co.uk/campaigns/personal-finance/card-surcharges/email-mark-hoban/?cmp=em=campaign They will send their standard email on your behalf to financial secretary Mark Hoban MP calling for his support for the outright ban on debit card surcharges.
Tell your friends, Tell your colleagues, Tell your neighbours, people you meet in the street, on the bus.....tell you dog if it has its own email address and hates being overcharged for his favourite dog biscuits online
