I think not. Colin has a quiet dignity about him. He reminds me of Jeeves from the PG Wodehouse novels. He was hit by a car and his pelvis was fractured. Now he's back to lurking around the carpet place and Iconic.

Mark, I can assure you that Colin, though no doubt a brave and noble cat, has nothing on Fergus.
Fergus is is a true feline - capricious, belligerent, wild and untamed; one stroke is all you get, then it's a sibilant hiss and out come the claws for you, Mister.
A terrible creature, afraid of no being alive, able to strike fear not just into passing pedestrians, but also road vehicles, who swerve out of his way as if avoiding an oncoming juggernaut. This beautiful soul bears all the characteristics of his ancestors: a coat of shimmering camouflage, talons like barbed wire, his one remaining oculus like blazing Egyptian sand. God only knows what mad antagonist stole his eye away. He probably did it himself, just to see what it felt like.
In concIusion, I give you... Fergus, of Morris Road, Cliffe.

Hmmm... I'm not familiar with Fergus. He sounds a bit like a cat version of Hunter S Thompson. I'll look out for him. I think that we need to have a formal contest to establish Cliffe's best cat. Isn't it nice without that misguided loon Newms, Sword of Truth, New Labour... etc...

Ah yes, I've been on the receiving end of Fergus the Ferocious. Thank you TDA for your eloquent post which gave me my first good laugh since a recent bereavement.

Rather like this thread, it brings back fond memories of a superlative cat that used to rule the roost at the top end of town. He was based mainly at The Black Horse but his empire stretched as far as the Pewter Pot and down to the Pelham and all parts in between. HARRIS, I miss you old friend.

Yes, Colin seems like a relaxed chap. I'm glad to hear he's back in full effect, helping the carpet fitters and watching people park their cars.
A big shout out also to Fergus's neighbour, I can't remember her name - Fiona or something else beginning with F. It could possibly be Fatty, because that is what she is.
The ying to Fergus's yang, she lounges around all day, hardly bothering to move her substantial bulk, and thus would never dream of attacking a friendly visitor, as she is incapable of such feats. She might be permanently pregnant.
Interestingly, she has the largest thumbs I have ever seen on a domestic cat. These are huge, opposable digits: I am convinced she prepares her own tinned meals and lacks any form of self control.
