Self proclaimed Conservation Area Planning expert, the unqualified historian Cllr Gardiner must be choking over his branflakes again. Yet another reply to his ineptitude in the letters page, about the cock-up behind Lewes House. The poor woman who has had to take him on, must be exhausted. How long are his fellow councillors going to put up with this bullying laughing stock, and leave residents to pick up the pieces?
Luckily for his increasingly embarassed colleagues he churlishly wrote last week that it was his last regal pronouncement on the matter (translation; I have been busted and horribly embarassed, but too proud to admit it)
The people of Ouse Valley have my sympathies. The increasingly less historic Lewes is united with the other victims in the District, of his ineptitude.

I think Cllr Gardiner will soon be announcing that he wishes to - ahem - spend more time with his family.

One would hope so, because I have been told by one of those affected that there is now yet another cock up. Cllr Gardiner had been warned about it by at least two people, but, yes, you've guessed it, he took no notice of them, preferring to believe planning officers who it now turns out...were wrong.
The letter in the Express is wonderfully succinct and to the pointm and demonstrates a now familiar theme. Member of public ignored, turns out to be right, but too late for Lewes's historic features. Our Planning Department was describing a boundary wall marking the route of a 800yr old twitten, as 'of no historic interest'. And we thought Marina Pepper was clueless!
