Cheapest parking

I'm not here to moan about the parking scheme, but merely to proffer the question; why does every car park or street seem to have a different price to park there?
The car park by the dripping pan is 25p per half hour (quite cheap compared with the £1.60 in Brighton), yet the street parking on Mountfield road is 30p. Any reasons? Perhaps we should create a list of the cheaper places to park and the ones to avoid.

I believe it is to 'encourage' drivers to use the centre less for long term parking and free up space for short term. However I believe the sytem is over complex and confusing. In addition there are the daft zones...do not get me started on those!

I think that to generate the maximum revenue, they cahrge as much as they can get away with. Near the surgery in Southover Road, it used to be (I think) 70p an hour. When all the charges went up, it shot up to something like £1 for 30 minutes.
They know people will pay it, because if you're ill enough to be seeing the doctor you're probably not well enough to walk far!

I'm really surprised we don't have to pay parking charges whilst waiting at a red traffic light.
