Hi,
My Renault Scenic is in need of a service, but I don't want to get ripped off or pay a fortune. Is there a decent garage in Lewes for servicing?
Thx

Morris Road Garage has a good reputation but is usually very busy so you have to book well in advance.

Although North Street don't get rave reviews, Bob Govas who shares their workshop is a fantastic mechanic and very reasonable price-wise. Get him on 01273 483045.

oh dear,
another genuine or not request for local info, followed by friends or detractors of those offering required service pitching their opinion. I don't know, triedthem all over the years & they're all saints or charlatans depending on the last bill.....

Used Flomar last year - on the whole they were fine from a price perspective, but they failed to address a clunking noise in my 60k miles, 6 year old vehicle and the guy said, well it is probably time I passed it on.
I'm not sure he meant anything by it, but it struck with me afterwards, that I would prefer the person sorting my car to be trying to keep it on the road for as long as possible, not just patching it up for the next few months.
I think I will be trying somewhere else this year, I quite liked Colas (spelling?) in Ringmer that I used the year before, very cheap, but the replacement car was a bit of a death trap with non existent brakes which kind of put me off a little.
So was just starting to think where to turn to next

If anyone has a Ford then Birchwood at Halland is quite good. I have been there a few times. Standard Ford prices which are very slightly more than the independents, but the work seems well done to me, and with Ford parts, so I think it's worth it. They will also ferry customers to and from Lewes as it's a bit out of the way.

I think all main dealers are a rip off. They charge the book time for any job, not what it actually takes, so you can pay twice over for some stuff if the initial stages of 2 jobs are the same.
Ringmer Service Centre are fab, imo. The bill is never more than a couple of quid over what they said it will be and often under. I've been going there for several years with various cars and the work they have doen for me has always been more than satisfactory. On one occasion, there was long wait for an engine mounting and they more or less fabricated me a new one so I could get my car back in time for my holiday.
They are very nice and accommodating and very funny - it's worth a drive up there just for the banter.

Got to be Morris Road Garage - they are honest, reliable, reasonable and do not rip you off. My partner was ripped off by North Street Garage for a large amount of money. Just be careful and go on recommendations.

I can really recommend Mark at Little Bills in Barcombe (next to the fancy dress shop). Very good mechanic, decent bloke, and you get just a 'little bill' at the end

Thanks for advice. Went with Flomars in the end. They were efficient, friendly, and didn't keep me waiting (unlike Caffyns!)....
