If Lewes Bonfire is to increase the revenue stream for Southern Rail, fast-food vendors and purveyors of fine LED lit products for youngsters then it must increase its appeal to the wider public outside the immediate Lewes area, so they will want to pile into the town and crowd its streets every Fifth, not just those that fall at a weekend.
In order to acheive this it would be best that Lewes, and in particular the Bonfire community, do not give the impression that this is a small-minded small-town riven by petty factionalism.
After all, it is well known that the most generous doners to charity are those who have had the train journey from hell, have no idea where they are going and who have felt the need to shell out for over-priced crap food and plastic tat.

A majority of those attending from outside Lewes appear to be pie-eyed students who've been drinking since noon and barely know which way is up. Not sure we need any more of them piling into the streets, thanks very much.

I also think posting your forum title as your handle, and vice versa, is an important element of this.
