A load of us are planning on coming down from Brixton as a reunion thing in Lewes for bonfire night on the 5th. Probably head down the pub for a bit,
then we were all hoping to join the precession for the night. How do we go about doing this? If we just dress up will we be allowed to carry a torch etc..

Great idea, head down to the Dorset Inn in the Cliffe. If you are going to dress up go for something like Vikings or similar. You can pick up those plastic Horned viking hats from most fancy dress shops for a couple of quid. Alternatively anyone wearing one of those baseball caps with beer cans on the sides and a mouthpiece usually get asked to lead the precession. Make sure you are well lagered up before the precession starts and you'll definately get asked to carry a torch. Have a great night.

As I witnessed last year, Plod seems content to stand idly by and allow members of societies to use a reasonable and appropriate level of robust force against students, idiots and any other drunken dimwit layabouts who try to join the processions.
Give it a go, Wiffle, if you wish.

You need to go through the initiation ceremony which includes proving your family have been here for 5 generations at least and showing that you can drink 10 pints of Harveys and still light a Rookie with a roll up.
You will also be expected to sign a disclaimer stating that you will not bring your fancy London ways down here with you and will not feel the overwhelming urge to leave the procession and open a Twine/Hemp Clothing shop. Failure to comply might end up in a recreation of the Wicker Man up by the Race course.

In all honesty the best way to join in is to meet all the societies for the Grand Procession at 6.30pm at Eastbourne Pier it's from here thta they march to Lewes, ask nicely and you will be able to join in as long as you dress like this years communial effigy which Borat in a mankini.

Sounds simple enough. Cool so what time should we aim to leave the pub to get the main procession?
Also is the Charcoal Grill still open these days? Will it be open on the 5th? If not have they finally got round to getting a KFC or MDs?

Don't Lambeth Council still do a nice display in Brockwell Park Uncle Wiffle? Wouldn't it be better to have a few beers over the Trinity and then go down there?
