Wold very much like to shake the halftard, who has decided to light a bonfire in the middle of the day on one of the hottest days of the year in Malling, firmly by the neck. Cheers for being considerate to everyone with their windows open who may already struggle with breathing in the hot weather by adding smoke to the equation, not to mention everyone with washing out and the harm you are doing to the environment. Inconsiderate A**ehole!!!!!

I understood the time to light a bonfire was after 6.00 pm when people would have taken their washing in and probably would not be still sitting in the garden. To do it any earlier is, to put it mildly, "pig ignorant".

Yes..,one can't be too careful confronting neighbours in the wilder parts of lewes, you can set off with good intentions to explain the subtleties of social behaviour only to realise when looking firmly into the eyes of the offender that they are bereft of a certain level of self conscious. At this tricky moment of neighbourly interaction I would recommend a fixed grin and to retrace your steps backwards without breaking eye contact for a second until you are out of view, then a brisk walk home and a stiff one, chin chin.

There is a programme on ITV tonight at 8o/c Neighbourhood Nightmares, exploring the changing face of neighbours, illustrating both bad behaviour and some of the more objectionable properties to live next door to. Maybe people should be forced to watch it.
