Hi Phil, farmer's market is still on, yes. You could even sit at one of your favourite chairs & tables near Argos! :-)

Sozs... Much more importantly... how many of those much loved parking ticket machines are going to be blown up on Saturday?

Obviously none because that would be criminal damage and that is against the law. All the lovers of bonfire have been spouting on about how law abiding the whole thing is.

yes they have all been taken away so the idiots cant harm them but they will all be put back early next week the damage that has been done to them will of course be coming out of the publics pocket shame that we all have to pay for a few mindless idiots i think the bill is in excess of £25,000 the police are now very much involved and are taking a great deal of interest no i expect the cost of parking will rise next year so we will all have to dig deeper into our pockets all because of a few idiots

In the world of the wasteful Local Authority, spending £25K can be regarded as peanut money.
What's far more interesting is the powers that be must be well aware of public opinion in deciding to remove said offending articles well in advanced. Futuristically let them dare say they were without knowledge of public feeling.
If (when) the parking charges increase next year lay the blame where it belongs... the greedy parking companies and the L.A.

ps. It was nice to see no parking meters and be able to park for nothing when I attended the Farmers Market... pity it won't last.

Pitty ESCC waste so much of our money on unwanted parking schemes (not to mention changing the road signs around Ashcombe roundabout every couple of days.... soon the roadsigns will be bigger than the proposed windmill at Glyndebourne). Bravo those brave few who take direct action in blowing up parking meters - writing letters and signing petitions certainly won't change ESCC wasteful ways.
