Desperate to see bluebells before they fade. Are there any local woodlands with a good display that are easily reached from Lewes ?

Head out of Lewes past Half Moon, turn right just before reaching Ditchling (can see Ditchling sign you are so close) go 2 miles or so, T-intersection turn right, park up immediately on right. Walk into woods. Beautiful.

Stanmer Park: go about half way down (between the entrance and Stanmer House), turn to the left and walk up the hill as if you were heading towards Ditchling Road. There's usually a big area of bluebells in the woods as it flattens out towards the top of the hill. You could find the same spot if you head the other way from the Ditchling Road car park.

Woods near Spithurst (Barcombe) are looking superb. Bluebells will be around for a while due to the cool weather.

A word about the miracle of bluebells in general. I come from the northern Midwest of the US, so I had never experienced the incredible beauty of bluebell woods until I moved here. What a pleasure and fleeting privilege you have! Truly magical.
