Big Fat Gypsy Weddings
Season 1 Episode 2 of 5
No Place Like Home A Romany is subject to criticism for choosing to marry someone from outside the community, but his 17-year-old bride is determined to prove her credentials by acquiring a 14-stone wedding dress that lights up in the dark. Meanwhile, a six-year-old girl receives a spray tan in preparation for her first Communion, which her family is celebrating early before being evicted from a traveller site.
I watched the original one off last year and it was so popular it spawned a new series of 5.
All previous episodes are on the Ch 4 catch up site.
I loved it.

Seen it before. I loved it. Not much of a story, but who cares?

Telly Buff, I'm with you. This series is fantastic. Those dresses are AMAZING!!! It's also nice to see a modern culture that is sure of itself and therefore doesn't feel the need to impose itself on the rest of society. If only 'multiculturalism' followed this example, we might all be getting on rather better than we are currently.

I hate to burst your bubble but most people are laughing at the whole chavaliscious debacle before their eyes not wallowing in the multi cultural vibe , let's face it travellers are as popular as Gary Glitter at a childrens tea party - generally speaking - any views expressed are not necessarily my own....most people I spoke to, including children , were appalled by 8 year olds grinding against each other, wearing nowt much more than bra and pants.

LMAO!!! as popular as Gary Glitter at a childrens party.Thought it was abit much at the end with the girls and also found it abit disturbing that the little girl was topless being filmed while having a fake tan who knows whos behind the camera.

It was nasty. Nothing fairy tale about it. Still if there's no sex before marriage, and you get married before the age of 17 then your teens start that bit earlier.

Fascinating viewing. Never knew the "travelling community"/ethnic minority had such good taste. Obviously had a good upbringing. Find the no sex before marriage a bit hard to swallow. Illegal encampments and the money saved on Council Tax, fuel, scrap metal and the dodgy tarmac and gardening services must pay well. Can'y wait to see the coming out ball.

What a classic series this is turning out to be, we're hooked.
What about that beast of a cake. As someone said today I think she ought to invest in a trolley! I'd probably slit my wrists if I drqopped that on the way to the function. But no we wrap it in cling film and sling it in the back of a van.
Thank God travellers prefer their own kind, who'd marry a male traveller, you'd have to be very dim to take a fairy wedding in exchange for a lifetime of cooking, cleaning and domestic violence.

I had the pleasure of their company on my doorstep for nearly three weeks a couple of years ago. A more evil bunch of scumbags you could not wish to meet. The women were as a foul mouthed as their dogs. Lewes District Council went through the charade of welfare checks while the local residents went through hell. Not one councillor came near - especially Mr Ian Elioart - while elderly residents had to be shipped out, and others ended up on tranquillisers. The truth of the matter is that these people are a race apart and treat their dogs and women the same. Their antics in this TV series is just the tip of the iceberg. As for the cake, it must have been the first one they hadn't knicked.

I don't doubt it was paid with money from dubious sources.
