I would be interested to hear how anyone has got on with having BT Infinity installed?
I have been a very happy customer of BE Internet for six years or more, and when they sold out to Sky I decided to take the plunge and move to BT Infinity (much faster speeds, particularly upload, for the same money, and not part of the Murdoch empire).
Long story short, the BT FTTC installation was meant to happen last week, so I took the day off. It didn't happen. They didn't call to explain. Over a week later, I finally got a call to tell me that their "service provider" (= BT Openreach) has found a problem at the local cabinet. BT retail will call me tomorrow to let me know whether or not the problem has been fixed.
I am now feeling a bit guilty about my decision to leave BE Internet, who have given a great service for so long :-(.
I know several posters here have used BE Internet. Has anyone tried to migrate to BT Infinity? If so, how has it gone?

Hi Cliff Hanger I have got BT Infinity Installed 80mb service had the service since june 2012 in the town centre. It takes about five days for the line to get up to speed and most wireless items eg. laptops, iphone etc download speeds around 20mb and upload around 19mb.
I have connected recently to the hub via ethernet cable and got speeds of 78+mbs so not too bad.
Don't believe the advert saying we don't slow down speeds as in the evenings it is a slower service downloading but uploading stays at 19mb.
Hope that helps a bit

According to BT Openworld, they are accepting orders, but BT site says that I cannot get Infinity in South Street. Thery say:
"When can I get fibre optic BT Infinity?
Sorry, fibre optic BT Infinity isn't currently available at your property.
Fibre optic broadband is estimated to be in your area between October 2013 and March 2014. Please note that these dates have been provided by our supplier and are estimates. Dates may be subject to change due to factors outside our control such as; delays agreeing cabinet locations with your local council or unforeseen issues encountered during the construction of your street cabinet.
Getting BT Infinity at your property depends on a number of factors including whether or not your telephone exchange currently supports BT Infinity and whether your street cabinet and line have been enabled. To find out more you can look up your telephone exchange on the BT Openreach website. Your property is connected to LEWES telephone exchange."

Mine said 31/3/2013 until late March when it jumped to 2014. So perhaps having a 2014 date means they're almost ready??
Pure coincidence that when I sent the link it showed Available now for my phone number, yesterday is was still 2014.
So keep checking, you never know!

Thank you owise1 and others. Finally got BT Infinity installed yesterday. The engineer took around an hour, around half of which was spent at the cabinet on the high street. I am very pleased with the service. The modem is syncing at 80 mbps up and 20 mbps, and most of the time I am getting something close to this, though it did slow down last night to a paltry 40 mbps as you say! All-in-all, I am very impressed. But BT's customer service, when things go wrong as they did initially, is appalling.
