The end of my business with Barclays. When you are out and about, working from a van, you need these easy-parking rural outlets to transact business. Like the Post offices at Laughton or Barcombe.

What about the super huge Barclays branch in Lewes, two tiny tills, often only one open. A portacabin would suit better and be cheaper. Air conditioning, automatic doors and tellers. Obviously it's days must be numbered. I suggest the old LloydsTSB room that just had the cash point in, would be plenty big enough !

Jodrell, what about the elderly many of whom have never used computers. Selfish comment.

@Old Mayor

Barclays are working out the term of their lease in the Lewes "Old bank" property. They will be relinquishing it when it comes to en end (I'm not not certain, but it might be next year). They will then look for smaller, less expensive premises in Lewes.

I do all my banking, both personal and business, on line. But then I don't handle cash. Perhaps Sussex Jim does. And I have neighbours who don't own a computer, so not possible for them.

You can't have it both ways ways Sussex Jim. If something is unprofitable, it shouldn't survive. Or did I misinterpret your usual true blue stance.

I agree with you, Supplyndemand. We should not subsidise a loss-making branch. Use it, or lose it. It saddens me that not more people used the Anchor at Ringmer, given the number of houses nearby.
I do bank online, and find it great for paying bills free of charge. But I also get paid for work in cash, and use some of that to pay off credit cards over the counter, to avoid bank charges incurred when paying cash into a business account.

Sounds like a nice tax-efficient plan too, SJ!

You're surely not suggestion that Sussex Jim, fine upstanding tax paying gentleman, is evading tax by so doing? Surely, surely not!
