In case anyone's tempted to upgrade their iphone, the new maps on IOS6 are as flaky in Lewes as elsewhere. For example, we welcome the return of Bona Foodie along with various random businesses in the High Street I'd never heard of, such as Lewes Gun Room and Step by Step Centre. Hilary Moore Flowers returns but across the road, there are no businesses in the precinct at all and Tesco and Waitrose don't exist.
It's an outrage!!

Yup it asked twice me if I wanted IO6 for my old 3GS yesterday, obviously declined but I know one day I'm going to press 'Yes' by mistake.... why don't they just leave be?

yep, truly rubbish. Lewes seems to now be Offham and Seaford is Bishopstone. Hove and Shoreham have dropped off the map. The shops and pubs listed mostly seem to be in the wrong place. Lets hope Apple sort this with IO7 very soon..

My understanding is that the reason Apple have decided to use their own maps rather than licensing the Google ones is to avoid paying their royalty fees. If that's the case it's really pretty disgraceful that they didn't check it all properly, although I bet it's all fine on the west coast of the US...

I'm sure it will be ok in a while. In the meantime go to maps.google and ave it to the home screen. Reasonable fix for now.

I'd tell Apple to go to Hell. But they haven't upgraded maps to show it yet.

If iPhones were free, the way every other phone is if you ask your network provider nicely, I could almost see the appeal, despite them containing really weak technology and lagging a few years behind the market still in terms of useful features but the fact that people are willing to part with hundreds of pounds for one completely baffles me.

RIP Steve Jobs. All downhill from here. And Android on the up. Just as much as Apple wanted to be independent of Google, Google will have not wanted to give their goodness freely to Apple. Delicious balance/interplay for commercial superiority. Will Google Maps apps for iPhone be free? If so/not, why?
