I have no garden and am desperate for an allotment. I contacted LDC,filled out all the forms but was told there is a 10 year waiting list.
You are given the option to choose an allotment near your home but I ticked every box as I don't care how far I travel as long as it is in Lewes.
Give the council a ring.01273 471600,ask about allotments,get the froms and fill them in.Maybe you can get further than I did.
I think preference should be given to folk with no gardens at all.

Virtually all the allotments in Lewes are owned and run by Lewes Town Council, not LDC. They're not very proactive, on the site where we have one, many of the plots are semi-neglected. Attempts to get the council to start getting tougher to force bad tenants to release them for those waiting don't seem to come to anything. It's quite a scandal the town council can't be bothered to manage them better, with growing demand. Seaford and Hastings are much more efficient.
