Bad accident. Apparently a young person got hit near the Elle and is (or was) under the car. Not been there though just heard it through the grapevine. Hopefully they will be ok!!

Was a 17 year old who cycled out of a side street and across the roundabout extremely fast and without looking. Got hit by a woman in a car.... (who was going slower than the cyclist). He flew off the bike and landed mangled, unconscious then fitting with a bloody cut on his head. After a few minutes he came to but he can't be in good shape. The car driver is in shock. The cyclist did not have a helmet on.

Looked like two coaches were parked up there outside the Elly, not sure if they were involved or not?
Hope the person is ok!

The road was clear up to the Elly, the coaches were pulled up just before the crossing. and two cars were stopped on the crossing. Cops were directing traffic down toward the Pells. The cops wouldn't tell us what had happened, they were just moaning that they were short staffed (possibly because of the RTC @ Falmer yesterday at the same time).

There was an accident involving a young cyclist and a car on Thursday night. The police and ambulances turned up promptly and dealt with the situation. Most members of the public were very helpful including but not only the vet, nurse and taxi driver who took control of the situation. The coaches were patiently waiting to be able to get through, they were nothing to do with bonfire. Thankfully the young man is now ok.
Hope that covers all questions.

Gawd. 'Roundabout' should have read 'zebra crossing'.
