Shame they make you work like a dog and if you can't keep up shame you in front of everyone and grassing on your coworkers for being late is a step towards higher pay.
Weird everyone working there the same time as me left within 3-4 months of starting.
Why are they constantly looking for employees?

Funny how there's always a Billy around to accuse other people of not working hard enough. We've all worked with people like them.

@ Clifford. Waitrose wants employees who are engaged in their job rather than those who just want to go through the motions. I know several people who work for Waitrose and they are all very happy.

"grassing on your coworkers for being late", god you are a tool.
The same employee's you are accusing of being "grasses" are the same employee's that are DOING YOUR JOB because you couldn't be arsed to get into work on time...

Waitrose is Lewes is hopeless - worst supermarket I've ever used
Had to take back rotten fruit and veg far too often
Always empty shelves and stackers far more interested in chatting each other up than in stacking ) save for one little lad who out works and out helps them all)
Over priced stock
The Unwelcome Desk
Un manned tills
Car park unlit in winter until you ask them to turn the lights on
So many trollies in the bay they're across the car park
No wonder I've started to go to Tesco

Go Aldi, much cheaper the majority of the staff seem to actually enjoy their jobs too which makes a nice change.

Tesco is easily the worst for customer service. Aldi is great, selection not the best, but products good quality, affordable and staff are nice. Oh and they are paid above the living wage too. The actual living wage, not the fake one the government made up. Makes you wonder why the rest can't, too busy creaming off profits for greedy shareholders and execs.

I think that generally all supermarket staff in Lewes are polite, friendly and courteous. Certainly better than I have encountered in many supermarkets abroad.

Why have a go at Waitrose! Many of the staff have been there for years, and some when it was Somerfields. Yes, it's more expensive but Waitrose actually treats its suppliers properly which Tesco doesn't. Aldi definitely cheaper but you can't pay by credit card - probably an advantage I know - and parking worse than Waitrose. Tesco has improved a bit, but still prefer Waitrose and its staff.

Yes, Aldi is cheap and pretty good as long as you don't mind shoddy goods, tat, out of date food and drink which is a substandard rip off of a good brand, over ripe fruit and veg, huge queues, unused checkouts and staff more interested in chatting to each other about what they are doing later.
I'll stick with Tesco thanks.

You can now pay by credit card in Aldi. I think a combination of Aldi and Waitrose works well - Tesco - hate it!

I have nothing but praise for Tesco. Excellent staff, very courteous and the shop always has what I want......not a cheap poor copy like Aldi knocks out. Not the cheapest but give me quality and good service any day over knock-off copies and big queues.

Waitrose in Uckfield completely different experience to that in Lewes. Huge store much better selection and huge car park, free for two hours. Worth the trip.

I'm not precious about where I shop, but I refuse to shop in Waitrose because it is illogical to pay extra money for an identical product priced cheaper elsewhere purely because of the 'shopping experience'. To say that the staff are 'nicer' or 'more polite' is just utter nonsense, it is never a reason to pay more than the products value.

The obvious answer is to use a variety of shops to get the best deals. We get the majority of our basic shop from Aldi - no problems with parking, quick checkouts and mostly friendly staff. Happy with the quality of most of the goods and some good value wines/beers. More specialised ingredients we go to Waitrose. And also use the local fishmonger and markets for some meats/cheeses/vegetables. Of course this approach does mean we shop for food every couple of days, but it's far more pleasurable than doing one massive shop at one supermarket once a week.
