To celebrate SuperHomes’ 10th anniversary one of the UK’s most eco-friendly SuperHomes will be hosting FREE Open Days this September in Lewes (Sat 09, Sun 10). SuperHomes are older homes refurbished by their owners who enjoy greater comfort, lower energy bills and at least 60% less carbon emissions.

Lewes is presenting Nick Rouse’s Victorian semi-detached cottage with a 1990s extension. Nick’s home resides in a conservation area where greening your home can be a challenge. Nick has added a secondary panel to double glaze his original feature windows and has fitted a replica of his front door to the inside to help prevent heat loss and insulate his home. Nick is truly a pioneer in renewable technology, he has installed one of the first Tesla Powerwall 2 battery systems in the country which can store an impressive 14 kWh of electrical energy generated by his solar panels.

Take a tour of a SuperHome and you will come away with a number of energy saving tips for your own home. We have more SuperHomes open across the country this September than ever before visit superhomes.org.uk to find out more.

'Uni Ready' is a short University of Us course to help students prepare themselves for university study. Research on the preparation new students wish they'd had suggests students need help with: understanding academic culture, what's expected of them as students and how to write an undergraduate essay. So, that's what we'll cover! See universityofus.co.uk
